TBM ‘GANGA’ ALSO ACHIEVES TUNNELING BREAKTHROUGH TADAY; LOAD TESTING ALSO COMMENCES ON THE AWADH ROTARY STEEL SPAN

Just a day after of Tunnelling Breakthrough of Lucknow Metro’s first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) ‘Gomti’, toady (i.e. 08.08.2017) Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has also achieved second Tunnelling Breakthrough of TBM ‘Ganga’ at Hazratganj near Sahu Cinema.
On 07th August, 2017 LMRC had achieved the breakthrough of TBM ‘Gomti” at the LMRC site near Sahu Cinema, Hazratganj where this UPLINE TBM emerged out of a shaft after creating 812 meters long tunnel in the capital from Sachivaalaya to Hazratganj.
Today, LMRC has also achieved the breakthrough of Second Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) ‘Ganga’ which was working in parallel on Down Line between Sachivalaya and Hazratganj. It is a rare kind of feat accomplished in the city while working towards building a mass rapid infrastructure in the city.
TBM ‘Ganga’ had started its operation for creating a tunnel at the underground Sachivaalaya Metro station shaft on 01.03.2017. It has now completed the tunnelling of 782 meters in about five months. Now, both the TBM will be taken to the other side of the underground Sachivaalaya Metro station site for starting its tunnelling towards the Hussainganj Metro station.
Meanwhile LMRC also has started the load testing of Metro train at the Awadh Rotary 60 metre special Metro span. Two train have been stranded with effect from today for the next 72 hours on this Metro steel bridge to cross check the load durability of the Metro structure. This is being done as per the mandatory requirement of Commissioner Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).
