LUCKNOW METRO’S WOMEN WORKFORCE TRANSFORMING ALL SPHERES-FROM TECHNICAL TO SECURITY

As the wait for the inaugural run of metro services of the entire North-South corridor from CCS Airport gets over, the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) is proud to share the occasion with International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2019. It is a matter of immense pride as the women workforce of Lucknow Metro takes a long stride in ushering the organizational working environment. From security to technical, Lucknow Metro’s female staff has taken control and charge of all the departments thereby setting an example for other women folk.

These women have also taken the initiative of operation of train services which can be determined from the fact that 30% of trains are being operated and driven by female train operators. In addition, 40% of all the Station Controllers/Train operators are females which is another accomplishment in itself. The recruitment process at LMRC also ensures that there is no gender bias of any form. There is fair distribution of work and equal share of responsibility to both men and women workforce thriving for productive environment.

For the safety and security of women commuters both at the Metro stations and in the trains, LMRC has endowed the responsibility of running the day to day operations with the female Train Operators, Station Controllers, private security personnel and housekeeping staff. These have been performing their job responsibilities and duties sincerely by taking special care of the specially able passengers, women, children and senior citizens.

LMRC also provides special transportation facility (office vehicle) to women employees when they have to work during odd hours. Every step is taken to ensure the safety and security of not only the women passengers but also the female employees of Lucknow Metro.

Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, LMRC expressing his views said that,” We at Lucknow Metro envision bringing the female employees at par with male counterparts by bridging the gap. We try our level best to give more opportunities to women in our organization and motivate them as far as possible for their emancipation and empowerment. Our women employees wearing LMRC uniform is a sense of pride for all of us.”
